Welcome to our blog for our current Habitat for Humanity build site! My name is Kate (with the newly acquired nickname "Spike" haha) and I am working as an AmeriCorps Construction Volunteer Facilitator with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. That is basically a fancy way of saying that I am assistant to my fantastic site supervisor, Dave Madzo, as we work together this year building houses. Our current build site is at 416 31st Ave N, in Minneapolis. As we make progress and take fun pictures, I thought this would be a good way to keep our current and past volunteers updated :-) For now, I'm planning on updating twice a week, and probably adding pictures once a week. It has been such an amazing experience so far, as I'm entering my third week on site, and that is in huge part to Dave and the wonderful volunteers we've had. I've been giddy with excitement throughout all of our firsts (the first wall, the first second wall.... you get the idea) and can't help but want to document the whole process. Dave is in his tenth year building houses for Habitat, and is an absolute wealth of knowledge and has been so patient with me as I have been learning everything almost from scratch!
